Why are air intake filters so filtered?
what I mean by that is why does the filter have to be so filtered; haha(i know that wasnt any better) why cant it just be some steel mesh, I would think the high filtration of the filters increases fuel usage by suffocating the engine, will dust really damage the engine, wouldnt it just burn up anyways.
What the hell take the filters out and see what happens. Dont come to me if your engine eventually gives up though.

How can I clean the throttle plates of my car when there is a unremovable plate mesh in the way?
Hey guys I have a 1991 Buick Park avenue and i notice a rough idle and hesistation when accelerating. I belive the throttle plates are dirty. I removed my air filter ducts but there is a unremovable mesh plate and i cant clean the throttle plates. Should i just spray thru it?
Do not spray through it. A lot of times, that screen is right in front of your mass-airflow sensor - a very expensive part easily damaged by carb/throttle body cleaner. Take your throttle body off instead. It's typically four bolts. You may have to unplug a few wires, but you can usually leave the throttle cables connected. While it's off, look into your intake manifold and assess how dirty it is. If it's very dirty, I would also recommend a sea-foam cleaning. There are direction on the back of the can that tell you how to decarbonize the engine by sucking the fluid up with a vacuum line. Seafoam can be located with other fuel injector cleaning products at almost all auto parts stores, walmarts, and some other large chain supermarket/retailers. It's a red and white can
