Shoulder Pads Med
C-Section 5 days ago, having chest pain and abdominial pain?
I had my 2nd c-section, 1st one was a vertical cut, this one was horizontal.
I am having severe chest/shoulder pain. Someone said it was air bubbles either way it is worse than my incision pain. Pain meds not working for this.
Anyone else have this, what helps?
I have tried walking, heating pads, massage.
I am also very bruised on my stomach this didn't happen last time,
I would love to hear about anyone else's c-section pains/problems, please share.
If you are experiencing any issues whatsoever with pain or bruising or inflammation, please contact your doctor's on call service immediately. I had a horizontal c-section with my son a couple of years ago and had really no idea what to look for with problems other than fever. They did explain all of that to me at some point, but I'm fairly sure it was in post-op and I was extremely drugged from the surgery (after 6 hours of hard pushing!!), so I was just a little tired 
In any case, I somehow contracted a STAPH infection from the hospital, got cellulitis and almost had to go back into the hospital for IV antibiotics after being home for less than 4 days. THEN, I had to have the wound re-opened and cleaned then packed with wet dressing by home nurses for a month. It was truly the worst experience of my life, and the most painful. Instead of being blissfully happy and tired with my new baby, I was literally crying in pain several times a day. So, what I'm saying is, if you feel for one second that something isn't right, then go with your instinct and have your doctor look at you. If I had done that upon my first suspicion, I could have started antibiotics earlier and not had any of the problems I had. Your baby needs you to be healthy and able to care for him/her, so don't feel like you're being paranoid or silly. The worst they can do to you is tell you you're fine!!!
Also, I never experienced gas pain before I had a c-section. For me, it almost felt like a heart attack at times. I recommend getting someone to get you the maximum strength chewable maalox tablets and take as many as your doctor said you could. Those things made me feel SOOO much better after getting home. The ones at the hospital didn't do a thing for me.
On the bruising, it may just be from them pulling on your stomach muscles when getting the baby out. I don't recall bruising, but I had (and still do to some degree) a painful pulling feeling on the right side where the incision ended. When I asked the nurse in the hospital about it, she said it was common because that's where they probably tugged the hardest to get my son out. Comforting, huh?
