Skateboarding Wheels - Different Types and Sizes
In recent years, skateboarding has found its way into the mainstream culture. Appealing, to teenagers, boys and girls alike both for fun-filled, thrilling sports and for transportation, skateboarding has gained a tremendous popularity. It involves a lot of physical exercise too. Even children are getting into it enthusiastically. A skateboard is made up of wood mostly, though plastic and composite also are preferred by some skaters. The plank on which you can place your foot is called the deck. The decks vary in size. While the sleeker ones are preferred more for stunts on ramps, the broader ones allow easy and convenient ride on streets and parks. The two metal axles, mostly made of aluminum alloy or uranium, called the trucks are attached to the base plate of the deck, thus adjoining the wheels. It is the skateboarding wheels that help the equipment to be in motion. Wheels of a skateboard are made of polyurethane or tough rubber. This makes the weight lighter and also give good performance. Longboard - The longboard is used for cruising and transport and so the wheels are designed accordingly. They are large in size, 65 to 100 mm and are generally made of plastic cores, as rubber would make them too heavy for a happy ride.
